April 2019 Newsletter
Welcome back after a lovely Easter break. Although this is a short term it is packed with learning, sports days and trips! Please keep your eye on the calendar on the school website which is full of detailed information about upcoming events.
I’d like to share with you the fantastic news that Mrs Murray is expecting her first baby. She will be going on maternity leave at the end of this term. With this in mind we have employed a new member of staff, Miss Robinson, who will be joining the year 3 /4 team after the summer holidays. Mrs McDougall will be moving to Key Stage 1 and will be taking the year 1 / 2 class. I will give you any staffing updates when we have confirmed them.
Fitness in Schools
Brian from Fitness in Schools will be in school on Wednesday 1st May. He puts the children through their paces in a range of fitness activities. For those of you who are new to this, Brian raises money for LOROS. Sponsorship forms were sent home yesterday. Any sponsorship money your child raises goes directly to LOROS. I really hope you can support Brian with this fantastic charity fundraising.
Please note that all sponsor money will need to come into school as cash.
I am adding this section to the newsletter to ask you for your support. I have been approached by a number of residents who live in Trinity Close regarding inconsiderate car parking by some of our parents at the beginning and end of school. There are regular incidents of cars pulling up onto the pavements which make them incredibly unsafe to use by all residents especially those with pushchairs and mobility scooters. There have also been some issues on a Friday when bin collections have been disrupted. Please help us be a supportive part of our local community, if you have to drive use the COOP car park as a dropping off point.
We also have some parents who keep using the school car park to drop off or pick up. This is dangerous and causes disruptions when staff are trying to park. CCTV is now monitoring the area and I will be contacting directly those parents who continue to disregard our requests.
A number of pupils have started to come to school with trainers on instead of school shoes. Please remember that black shoes are part of our uniform policy. Also blue jumpers only please and no jewellery (accept stud earrings) or nail varnish. Children may wear watches.
Multi Use Games Area
The Multi Use Games Area was due to be finished over the holidays; however there has been a slight delay. Work should start again at the end of this week and the fencing will be installed on week commencing May 6th.

Year 6 Leavers Service is on Thursday July 11th at 1.45 pm at Holy Trinity Church. Please note the change in time as this event usually takes place in the morning. The annual Governor’s Awards also take place at the service. Children from each class, who have made the most progress in a combination of reading, writing and maths, will be presented with certificates from our Governing Body. Parents will be informed if their child has an award on Friday 28th June. This will be via text. We ask that you keep this information to yourself so it is a surprise for your child on the day. Parents are obviously invited. The final behaviour certificates are also presented at the service and letters will be sent out inviting parents (as they are for celebration assemblies). This service is always a very special occasion as we say a fond farewell to our year 6 pupils.
