There is no longer a legal requirement for people with coronavirus (COVID-19) infection to self-isolate, however if you have any of the main symptoms of COVID-19 or a positive test result, the public health advice is to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for at least 5 days , 10 at the most.
Children should not attend school while they are infectious. They should take an LFD test from 5 days after their symptoms started (or the day their test was taken if they did not have symptoms) followed by another one the next day. If both these tests results are negative, they should return to school, as long as they feel well enough to do so and do not have a temperature.
It will help us enormously if you can please follow this advice. I’d like to say a huge thank you to the parents of the children who are currently off with Covid, who are doing exactly this. The previous guidance is now advice, and if our whole school community follows this common sense approach, it will keep our number of infections low. So, if in doubt please check with a test.
Schools still have to report high numbers of cases to Public Health England, who could impose restrictions if they felt it was necessary.
