New Intake 2021

Choosing your child's school is an important decision.  At Ashby C of E we aim to make this process as easy as possible by giving you all the information you will need to help you select the right school for your child.

Due to the current Covid-19 situation it is important that we do everything we can to keep everyone safe, this means that we need to limit the number of visitors coming into school. Consequently, we regret that we are unable to operate new intake events for prospective parents in the same way as we have in previous years.

We are however offering individual 15 minute walk through tours after school hours from 26th October 2020. This will provide an opportunity for you to see the foundation stage classrooms and outdoor learning areas.  A follow up phone call or video call can then be arranged with the Head/Deputy Head Teacher for you to be able to ask any questions you may have.  You will be required to wear a face mask whilst on the school site.

Foundation stage

At Ashby Church of England school our goal is to inspire everyone to, achieve their full potential, challenge creative minds and encourage and nurture talent through our Christian values and our wholehearted approach of striving to ensure every child has the very best education.

"At Ashby C of E Primary our whole school community is encouraged to follow their dreams so that everyone succeeds and every day is a step to success. Our school allows us all to blossom and discover life within a solid Christian Foundation, providing a supportive and guided way through all aspects of life”  written by Year 5 and 6 pupils.

We are a happy school family and your child’s school journey begins in our Foundation Stage. Every member of our experienced, Foundation Stage team is dedicated to providing a loving, caring atmosphere where children can thrive and learn the importance of knowledge through a range of activities and opportunities. We work closely with families because we understand the importance of a strong relationship between home and school.

In 2018 our purpose built Foundation Stage unit was opened. Inside we have two large, airy open plan classrooms and two further smaller rooms that enable staff to give specifically designed activities to smaller groups of children to progress their learning further. The outside area is landscaped to provide a fantastic learning environment for all the children to enjoy, with a trim trail and nature lookout spots and bike paths it is a learning oasis but importantly still feels very much part of Ashby-de-la-Zouch community with views into the town.

We look forward to welcoming your child in 2021 and supporting your child in creating their best future.

Video calls and visits outside of school hours can be booked now on

If you have any more questions or would like to book a visit please don't hesitate to ring us, we welcome your call and look forward to hearing from you.

Is your child 'Ready'?

Parents across Leicestershire are being encouraged to ensure children who are starting school for the first time next year are 'ready'.  The new campaign forms part of a shared view of 'school readiness' developed by the Leicestershire Children and Families Partnership, where families, early years providers and schools work together to ensure the best start in life for young children.

The link below explains what it means for a child to be ready for school and includes some practical suggestions as to how families can get involved
